We hold annual listening meetings as a senior leadership team. The CEO, CPO, and CHRO make themselves available to hear from any team member regarding any topic in a group setting. The co-founders also hold idea hour once a quarter where team members can pitch ideas. Finally, we hold annual employee engagement surveys and conduct pulse surveys throughout the year.

We have our continuing education program that not only serves team members to financially support team members looking for higher education, but the program was designed to be flexible to cover professional certifications and conferences. We also have our career experience program where team members can apply to work in another position for a quarter out of the year. They get to learn hands on about other roles within the organization and are provided with evaluations on what skills they obtained during the process and areas to continuing sharpening if they were to apply for a similar role in the future.

OUR COMPANY’S VALUES ARE ALIGNED WITH OUR EMPLOYEES BECAUSE …

Our team members were involved in the process of building out our company values. The founders and CHRO embarked to create five core company values and had decided upon those values independently. We then surveyed the team members and asked them to pick two single words that they felt best fit Athletic Brewing Companies values. The top five values were identical to the five values that were selected by senior leaders. Every year we do this exercise in the employee engagement survey to confirm drift is not occurring.

PROGRAMS AND PRACTICES WE GIVE TO OUR EMPLOYEES THAT CREATE A LOVED WORKPLACE ARE …

We provide our team members with the opportunity to engage in the community through our volunteer time off program and engage in team community impact days where entire teams go out into the community to clean trails through our Two for the Trails Program, which is one of the biggest corporate environmental grants in the country donating up to $2M annually to hundreds of outdoors organizations. Team members are also able to support organizations through our impact fund by putting together a proposal for support.

Our CEO has an open door policy and has set a low bar for team members to bring ideas into the company. Bill often makes time to make himself present at our manufacturing facilities and engages with team members regardless of level. A humility and desire to learn from all of leadership is an example for problem solving and growth exhibited throughout the company. The absence of egos often separates the people from the problems we are trying to mutually solve.

We provide our team members with the opportunity for reward travel. Team members are able to get the opportunity to travel the world ad attend a sampling event. Team members from different parts of the organization are paired together to create community. Athletic Brewing also offers 2% for the Team where they are from day one entered into a 2% company ownership pool and are awarded additional shares in the pool every service year.
