Why Bank Independent IS A MOST LOVED WORKPLACE®

Systemic Collaboration

EMPLOYEES COLLABORATE THROUGHOUT OUR COMPANY BY …

a variety of digital and traditional methods. You are as likely to see team members collaborating throughout our facilities in breakrooms and hallway conversations as in meeting rooms. We also use technology, including ongoing chat channels and video calls to enable ongoing collaboration across teams and buildings.

Positive Vision of the Future

EMPLOYEES AT OUR COMPANY HAVE A POSITIVE VISION FOR THE FUTURE BECAUSE …

we are focused on continuing to make a positive difference for our team members, customers, and communities. Our company has experienced exciting growth over the past few years, which has brought great opportunity for the growth of our team members. As we look to future growth, our team members know they will have plenty of opportunities to continue growing with the company and giving back to their communities.

Company Respect

WE SHOW RESPECT AND ENSURE THAT ALL VOICES ARE HEARD AND IDEAS ARE VALUED THROUGHOUT THE COMPANY BY …

being intentional about bringing different voices and perspectives to the table. We seek out “wildcards” for projects and cross-functional teams who may not be subject matter experts but can provide a unique perspective. We look for ways to bring in younger or less experienced team members to expose them to development opportunities. We seek out different perspectives and strive to demonstrate our value of respecting each other’s differences.

Company Support / Killer Outcomes

WE SUPPORT OUR EMPLOYEES IN ACHIEVING THEIR PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL GOALS BY …

providing the feedback and resources the need to own their development. Our Team Member Care team includes not only Learning & Development, which focuses on structured learning events for the organization, but also a talent & professional development coach, whose job it is to partner with leaders and team members on their individual development plans and connect them with opportunities and resources. We offer several structured formal programs for growth and development, including Bank Independent University and a mentoring program.

Alignment of Values

OUR COMPANY’S VALUES ARE ALIGNED WITH OUR EMPLOYEES BECAUSE …

we are intentional about hiring and developing team members and leaders who are aligned with our values. We create opportunities for team members to give us feedback about how we are living our values and react to their feedback to ensure we remain consistent throughout our organization.

CEO Strengths

OUR CEO SERVES AS A MODEL OF OUR COMPANY VALUES BY …

being open and vulnerable about his own growth and opportunities. When Rick talked about our servant leadership philosophy, he talks about flipping the org chart upside down. He views his job as working for the people who, on paper, report to him.

Benefits

EXAMPLES OF UNIQUE BENEFITS, BONUS, OR COMPENSATION WE PROVIDE ARE …

a pension plan in addition to a 401k with an employer match; a premium healthcare plan that is free for team members, highly subsidized for family coverage, and features extremely low deductibles; an Employee Savings Plan, in which team members save $25 per paycheck and the company matches it 100% and pays it out every year in November; and, a variety of performance-based bonuses based on roles by which the company shares its success with team members.

Our response to COVID-19

Our executives affirmed at the beginning of the pandemic that the health and wellbeing of our team members would be our top priority throughout the pandemic. We made many accommodations throughout the pandemic, sending most of our team members home who could work remotely, closing our lobbies to customers and conducting business through the drive-thrus, and heightened cleaning and disinfecting procedures.
