Collaboration at Benco starts with the Senior Leadership Team and Extended Leadership Team. They identify a number of company strategies each year to drive performance and innovation. Associate based strategy teams are formed to drive the initiatives. Each strategy team develops OKR’s (Objectives, Key Results) which cascade into departmental goals.
Associate Events are held frequently throughout the year to encourage collaboration and FUN! Events include March Madness Tournaments, Summer Family Picnic, and a Appreciation Gala just to name a few!
Associate Resource Groups encourage collaboration and support amongst associates ranging from Women in Business to Young Professionals.

Associates at our company have a positive vision for Benco’s future because we prioritize proactive communication, we are consistent in our processes for associate feedback and clearly communicate pathways to growth in our organization. We focus on functional areas that make companywide security and growth possible. These programs and tools are key to associate satisfaction and retention. 85% of associates who participated in our most recent engagement survey said they want to work here for a long time.

Listening keeps us successful. Benco values an atmosphere that provides daily opportunities for associates to communicate with any leader regardless of the type of feedback. This begins with Benco’s open door policy, which includes in person discussions, email, chat and video calls.
Our formal listening tools include Orientation, All Hands Calls, Meetings (State of Company, Lunches with Senior Leaders, Listening Tours, All Manager, Extended Leadership) and Surveys (Feedback Friday, Engagement, 360’s).
Our best initiatives are associate generated. Our ‘Just Did It’ program encourages innovation and process improvement, with over 500 submitted in 2022 adding $100 for each into profit sharing.
Our mission to drive dentistry forward through innovative solutions and caring family culture supports associate personal and professional growth. Benco extends a comprehensive onboarding program for all associates with unlimited career enrichment courses within our learning center. New courses are introduced regularly to support changing needs identified via associate feedback. Our mentor program pairs associates annually to support their targeted goals. The Benco Leadership Series offers four live presentations focusing on leadership enrichment. This is in addition to our tuition reimbursement program. Lastly, we have eight associate resource groups for associates to participate in supporting personal development and support.

We drive and support our family culture in many ways, from work life balance, well-being, and with community giveback. Our programs include massages, recognition luncheons, adoption assistance, health insurance rebates, scholarships, student loan assistance, parental leave, onsite wellness clinics, vaccines, onsite fitness center, discounted gym memberships, pet insurance, associate time off donations, associate emergency fund.
Associate recognition is also key to our culture. BencoBuck rewards occur when an associate performs above and beyond. Associates in turn can leverage the portal to make a variety of purchases with those ‘Bucks’, such as gift cards or merchandise.
While we could provide numerous examples of how our co-CEO’s (Managing Directors), we’ll focus here on the Benco value We begin each initiative by asking “What does the customer want?” Managing Directors, Chuck and Rick Cohen take this to heart by co-traveling across the United States with local territory representatives and field service technicians visiting Benco customers. These co-travels allow them to hear first-hand from Benco associates and customers on what’s going well, what needs improvement, and actions to take to improve their Benco experience. They have completed over 25 co-travels just last year alone.
Benco associates have free unlimited access to an Employee Assistance Program and profit-sharing eligibility.
In 2022 our parental leave policy transitioned to 6 weeks (formerly 2 weeks) of fully paid parental leave for mothers, fathers, partners, etc. and adoption assistance reimbursement was increased to $10,000 (formerly $3,000). A formalized 3-week gradual return to work program for any associate returning from a medical leave of absence, including (but not limited to) parental leave. The associate is paid 100% of their base pay, while working reduced hours.
