Employees collaborate throughout our company by participating in specific development programs, such as Pestana Mobility - a program with over 640 participants since 2020, from Portugal to NY, Berlin, London & Amsterdam; from Cabo Verde or Morocco to Portugal. The program's main goal is to share experiences, best practices, to fill specific needs of the group and align the Pestana culture at a global level. It is also seen as an essential program as it provides opportunities for career growth and development for our employees. Additionally, as a hospitality group, our high seasons are very demanding worldwide. Therefore, teams are always ready to help other teams in need with specific tasks. We have highly versatile and proactive employees who are always willing to support each other and fill specific needs that some teams/hotels might be facing.

We show respect and ensure that all voices are heard and ideas are valued throughout the company by conducting the 'Pestana Engagement Survey' every two years. This survey evaluates employee satisfaction across the globe in different areas such as internal communication, learning and development initiatives, compensation and benefits, sustainability, leadership, and others. The results are crucial in defining our strategy for the following years by maintaining good work in areas with positive evaluations and investing more efforts in areas with lower scores. Additionally, we also develop regular internal surveys to get feedback from employees regarding the service provided by our Shared Services. This data is crucial to take the right actions to engage employees, listen to their comments and improve our services accordingly.
Regarding innovation, we have an internal program called 'Envision@Pestana' that enables employees from different departments to discuss and generate ideas in areas such as sustainability, community support, and talent retention. These workshops are open to our Shared Services and Operational employees. All ideas are evaluated, and the best ones are implemented. At the end of the program there is an employee recognition session with board members where the best ideas area presented and awarded.

We support our employees in achieving their professional and personal goals by making sure their remuneration and benefits are competitive in the market, by understanding their learning and development needs to improve their personal and professional competences (via our Pestana Academy) and by providing them with mobility experiences and internal career opportunities. Pestana Academy provides learning and development activities based on three pillars: Sharing Experiences, Growing Experiences and Learning Experiences. Each one of these pillars holds important initiatives to promote the personal and professional development of our employees. Just to give you an example, our development program Growing Together, a program that is part of the Growing Experiences pillar, allows employees to have different personalized experiences during 18 months in our shared services and Operations departments across different brands and geographies. The aim is to attract and develop future hotel or department managers to our business in hospitality. In this program, participants have access to specific trainings, mentoring from senior leaders and several events with board members.

Programs and practices we give to our employees that create a Loved Workplace are several ones related to our Pestana Academy, as mentioned before, and many other. As part of the Pestana Hotel Group, all employees have access to up to two psychological appointments, following an initial diagnostic session, where confidentiality is assured throughout the entire process. Additionally, through our Mobility Program, employees can experience new cultures and functions, providing them with a refreshing break from their routines and a chance to find a new sense of happiness in their work. We also organize and empower moments of entertainment and relief during work, and for employees who live far from home, we offer accommodation to ensure they have a better work-life balance. We also elect the “Employee of the Month” to reward employees that live our values in a daily basis to make sure our culture remains alive.
