Why WeRoad IS A MOST LOVED WORKPLACE®

Systemic Collaboration

EMPLOYEES COLLABORATE THROUGHOUT OUR COMPANY BY …

We encourage collaboration across functions and levels through several initiatives.
“Squad teams” bring together junior employees to manage cross-department projects,
providing stretch assignments and developing business acumen. Volunteer “Culture Ambassadors” work on driving people experience initiatives, with members from various teams collaborating to foster, protect and evolve our culture. In our tech department, “Guilds” unite people with expertise in specific innovation areas to work together on upscaling our digital product. These structures create opportunities for employees to collaborate beyond their usual roles and teams, sharing knowledge and working towards common goals.

Positive Vision of the Future

EMPLOYEES AT OUR COMPANY HAVE A POSITIVE VISION FOR THE FUTURE BECAUSE …

At WeRoad, we empower employees to feel confident and excited about their future through a multifaceted approach. Our unlimited holiday policy and remote work flexibility promote autonomy and trust. As a travel company, we encourage employees to embody our product, gaining fresh perspectives. Our vibrant travel coordinator community is closely integrated with our staff, strengthening everyone’s connection to our purpose. Our culture manifesto enshrines the values of Daring, Discovery, and Entrepreneurship, encouraging ownership and growth. Finally, we don’t micro-manage. Our output-focused management style allows individuals to leverage their unique strengths. Through policies, culture, community, and management, we inspire employees to thrive at WeRoad.

Company Respect

WE SHOW RESPECT AND ENSURE THAT ALL VOICES ARE HEARD AND IDEAS ARE VALUED THROUGHOUT THE COMPANY BY …

Ensuring employees feel comfortable being their authentic selves at work is a top priority for us. We cultivate an inclusive, open-minded culture where everyone is encouraged to bring their whole self. Leaders openly share their own stories of successes and failures, normalizing vulnerability. We don’t have a dress code, allowing employees to express themselves through their appearance. Critically, we emphasize that everyone has the right to give feedback to anyone, regardless of hierarchy, reinforcing that each person’s perspective is equally valued. Our culture survey results affirm this, with employees strongly agreeing they can be 100% themselves and that WeRoad actively supports and accommodates them. In addition, innovation and idea sharing are core to our DNA, explicitly expressed in our culture manifesto’s values of daring and discovery. We encourage this on a daily basis and through targeted initiatives like quarterly hackathons in our tech team. When it comes to feedback, we’re obsessed with continuous improvement, regularly conducting pulse surveys, 360 feedback cycles, and culture surveys. We promote a culture of direct, real-time feedback, encouraging employees to share thoughts in the moment during meetings, coffee chats, or hallway conversations. Our aim is to make feedback an integral part of how we work together and drive progress.

Company Support / Killer Outcomes

WE SUPPORT OUR EMPLOYEES IN ACHIEVING THEIR PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL GOALS BY …

To ensure competence and encourage further growth, we have robust resources and programs in place. Twice a year, we conduct official performance and potential reviews, evaluating goal achievement, values alignment, and competency progression. Salaries, bonuses and career paths are transparently communicated across the company. We invest in leadership competency trainings, inhouse academies, and team training budgets. Unique to our travel business, we also encourage employees to become travel coordinators themselves, attending bootcamps to build skills in people management, responsibility, and problem-solving. Our aim is to provide clarity, support and diverse opportunities for our employees’ development.

Alignment of Values

OUR COMPANY’S VALUES ARE ALIGNED WITH OUR EMPLOYEES BECAUSE …

When WeRoad had only 5 employees it already had a culture manifesto, clearly stating the values and principles the company will be built on. In order to ensure that all employees are aligned and aware of these values and what kind of company they are joining, we have incorporated value specific questions into our interview process, share our culture manifesto with the onboarding pack, and base 50% of the performance bonus on value alignment. In addition we strive to tangibly embody our company values in multiple ways. Our unlimited holiday policy and flexibility for remote work demonstrate our entrepreneurial approach, empowering employees to own their time. Regular 360 feedback moments and manager competency surveys reflect our value of sharing. We encourage daring and discovery by supporting external learning experiences for managers and teams, and by welcoming calculated risks and mistakes as we empower junior employees. Respect is our core value, and we prioritize culture fit in recruiting to maintain an inclusive environment where everybody is treated equally. These are just some examples of how we live our values day-to-day.

Company Practices / Love

PROGRAMS AND PRACTICES WE GIVE TO OUR EMPLOYEES THAT CREATE A LOVED WORKPLACE ARE …

We truly believe it is the combination of freedom, challenge and trust that makes WeRoad what it is. In addition, our product is a product of passion, we design unforgettable experienced for our customers. And to allow our employees to really understand what this mean, we give them 1x trip a year for free. In addition, we encourage and invite all our employees to become a travel coordinator, which means to not only work for us but be part of our active community. By inviting them at cost to events, and allowing them to go on holiday as much as they wish, we practice what we preach to create “Connect people, cultures and stories”.
In addition, from a P&C/ HR point of view, we closely track employee sentiment through metrics like our Net Promoter Score (currently 55.0), Glassdoor reviews (4.7/5), and culture survey results (4.2/5 overall). P&C stays very close to our employees by doing a 15 & 30 day catch up right after they start, and following this with a 6 month catch and staying interview after 1.5 years. In addition we conduct 2x year pulse surveys and 1x a long culture survey.

CEO Strengths

OUR CEO SERVES AS A MODEL OF OUR COMPANY VALUES BY …

Our CEO comes from a large company, booking.com, which is known for its strong values and company culture. He is incredibly engaged with the mission and vision of WeRoad and shows this by leading by example. For example, we are a start-up and need to watch our costs. Our CEO will take the bus, and not a taxi. We sell trips and give them as a benefit for free – our CEO goes on a WeRoad 1x year (usually he goes incognito, not telling anyone who he is). He stands by his word, he admits mistakes, and he is a peace maker when needed. He trust his direct reports, and leads by empowerment and not micromanagement.

EXAMPLES OF UNIQUE BENEFITS, BONUS, OR COMPENSATION WE PROVIDE ARE …
