Sharing their voice through bi-annual culture surveys, stay interviews, and connecting with others at Parkview via various internal platforms. Connection and collaboration with fellow co-workers continues to be ranked as Parkview’s biggest strength. Non-clinical co-workers deploy to support clinical areas as helping hands – specifically serving during times of unprecedented crisis like experienced during the many COVID-19 surges. Co-workers share appreciation through recognition tools and celebrate each other through Parkview sponsored committees. Furthermore, the establishment of PTO and financial donation programs to support fellow co-workers in need provides an opportunity for co-workers to care for each other on a personal level.
Parkview prioritizes a culture of innovation and growth. The opinions of our co-workers and their suggestions for enhancement are regularly solicited; and through their voices, innovative changes continue to occur. Parkview has an established innovation program that encourages co-workers to submit ideas; and if selected, see their suggestions come to life. Likewise, Parkview continues to invest in our facilities and technologies to provide the best patient care for our community. We take this same passion for enhancing the future of Parkview and apply it to our strategic initiatives for employee growth via talent pipelines within our local school systems and internally with a formalized internal mobility program.
Dignity and respect are core to Parkview’s culture. We respect one another’s opinions, and co-workers are invited to voice their ideas in several ways. Our equity and inclusion survey gathered opinions on our efforts to create an inclusive environment. We conduct a culture survey to gauge how co-workers feel about our culture. In fact, a question on our culture survey is “My voice is heard at Parkview.” Feedback from both surveys is used to inform decisions about how Parkview supports its workforce. We also conduct stay interviews and round on teams to gather feedback.
Giving them the tools and resources to be successful. Parkview has an internal mobility program that aims to place co-workers in the right roles doing the right work to meet their personal or professional goals. We have several leadership development programs in place to support the professional goals of our leaders. We also have programs for co-workers, such as the Exceed nursing recognition program, a formal internal mentoring program, loan payback and tuition reimbursement programs for those interested in furthering their education. Additionally, leaders are encouraged to have regular “check-in” conversations with their team to discuss goals, job satisfaction and more.
Our values drive our decisions. By being mindful of our values and using them in conversations with our co-workers, our teams are able to see and feel them as part of our culture. Our values of trust, compassion, respect, teamwork, innovation and stewardship are built into nearly every interaction, every conversation and every message to our workforce. As a mission-driven, community-based health system, Parkview’s values can be found at nearly every turn. They inspire our mission and our culture, and our brand promise of excellent care for every person, every day.
In addition to competitive pay and benefits, Parkview’s engagement efforts include a recognition program, gifts of appreciation sent to homes regularly and co-worker feature stories on our intranet. For nurses, formal award programs recognize their contributions, such as the Daisy and Nightingale awards. Our CARE team works to assist, retain and engage co-workers by supporting areas such as childcare, education, shelter or mental health. The CARE team also coordinates the Matchmaking program to ensure co-workers are serving in the role that best meets their needs. Parkview recently introduced co-worker resource groups to encourage healthy conversations around a variety of topics.
Our CEO is truly a servant leader, and he models our values daily. While he is new to the CEO role, he has served in a senior leadership role at Parkview for 16 years. He inspires confidence in co-workers by being authentic and reliable. He shows teamwork by continually building partnerships – inside and outside the organization – and emphasizing team over self. He is innovative and drives transformation by encouraging new or better ways to complete a task, often while being mindful of resources and demonstrating stewardship. Finally, he is respectful to all, with regard for their wishes, thoughts or opinions.
Tuition assistance and education loan pay back; paid and volunteer time off; “lifestyle benefits” which allows co-workers to be reimbursed for personal expenses of their choosing; financial wellness support via access to Dave Ramsay’s program and Purchasing Power, which allows payroll deduction payment plans for eligible expenses; $15.30/hour minimum wage; monetary “thank you” awards; annual market adjustment/pay increase; internal co-worker pet therapy program; free subscription to CALM app, bike share program; discounts on a variety of services and activities; and other mental health resources and activities.
