Our leadership is intentional and transparent about sharing the progress, goals, and direction of the Firm. Every other month, meetings are held with all employees reviewing financials, reviewing “wins and wows” which are victories obtained for clients, upcoming firm changes, opportunities, and future plans. Our employees are an integral part of the Firm strategy. Every employee has a role to play within that strategy, and are aware of how their individual contributions impact the overall success of our business.

We hire and consistently evaluate based on our Firm values. It starts in the interview process. Candidates are screened on their candor, how they value those who work above, below, and with them, and how they approach working within a high-growth and high-change environment. Once hired, our team’s annual evaluations are strongly rooted in the Core Values. We champion the client service component of our business whether the client is internal or external. Our employees are the drivers of our culture which is defined based on our values.

He is a committed personal resource. Our Firm has a Managing Partner that has set in motion a thoughtful growth plan that is ambitious and exciting, but at the core retains the most important component of Benesch, which is appreciating the value each person brings, regardless of how much we grow. He has spent almost his entire career with our organization and worked his way to the top, and along the way has forged strong working relationships with employees and clients. He entrusts our team to do the same. He has earned the confidence and respect of our employees and is the first to offer his cell phone number if you need him. He sets an incredible example.

We give everyone an opportunity to be seen and heard in whatever avenue they are comfortable. Our Managing Partner and C-Suite team are approachable and amenable to receiving feedback and hearing ideas. During our firmwide meeting, all employees are asked to send in questions for the Q&A section on anything happening in the Firm. Our team will take the time to address questions or concerns. The smaller departmental teams are highly encouraged to engage their teams in the continuous improvement process and reward those who present ideas and suggestions.

Open communication and cross-functional teams are essential. Whether a lawyer or support staff employee, we build opportunities for our employees to develop working relationships across all of our departments and offices. Our employees regularly travel back and forth between our different office locations to build real connections and teams that best serve our clients. We also have implemented highly effective systems, tools, and processes that remove barriers to communication. These resources encourage our employees to inspire each other, ask questions, recognize each other’s contributions, and make our most senior leaders accessible as mentors and sounding boards as we continue to push forward.
