Why is Brookdale Senior Living a Most Loved Workplace®?

Our employees have a positive vision for the future because they find purpose and meaning in their roles and the chance to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Our mission to “enrich the lives of those we serve” encourages our employees to enhance, improve, and add value to the experiences, well-being, and overall quality of life of our residents and their families. The work our employees do every day can be challenging, and immensely rewarding. In working to fulfill our mission, our employees can add value and deeper meaning to their own lives. When we work together to enrich lives, we continue to create a culture that attracts top talent, is engaging, supports ongoing development, and ultimately encourages employees to stay with us for the long term, contributing to the well-being of our residents and Brookdale’s overall success.

Relationships are the heart of our culture. They help us create a connection among our residents, employees, and families. Integrity is our soul. It guides us to be open in our communication with each other, and it enables us to make the right decisions for the people who have entrusted us with their care. Our relationships and our integrity work together to help create a positive impact in the lives of the people we serve. The happiness of those we serve can be affected by the happiness of our employees, so we offer our employees competitive compensation and a benefits package with additional perks. Employees earn more than a paycheck; they can enjoy opportunities to grow their careers, as well as ongoing programs catered to their physical, mental, emotional, and financial well-being. Most of all, we believe employees can find purpose, meaning, and the chance to be a part of something bigger than themselves.

Brookdale’s President and CEO, Lucinda “Cindy” Baier, serves as a model of company values through exemplary leadership and adherence to core principles that define our organization. Cindy embodies integrity by making ethical decisions that prioritize resident well-being and employee satisfaction. Her commitment to excellence is evident in strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing care quality and community engagement. By fostering a culture of compassion, Cindy inspires empathy and respect among employees, residents, and stakeholders alike. Her visionary leadership promotes innovation, driving Brookdale forward in an ever-evolving senior living industry. Through these actions, Cindy not only upholds Brookdale’s values but also sets a standard for ethical leadership and positive impact within the company and beyond.

At Brookdale, we believe that a direct relationship with employees and an open-door approach to communication is the best way to ensure our employees feel heard and our residents and their family members receive high quality services. We are dedicated to keeping Brookdale a company based on trust where employees have the opportunity and the path to discuss problems or questions with members of management. We encourage employees to express concerns, suggestions, and comments to management directly, and we provide other avenues for discussion including employee engagement surveys, as well as pulse surveys throughout the year when circumstances arise. We also maintain the Integrity Line, which allows employees to contact us via phone or through a web portal, anonymously if they choose, to raise concerns, ask questions, or make reports. We believe our commitment to open communication and mutual respect fosters a supportive and dynamic work environment where employees can feel heard.

Employees at Brookdale Senior Living collaborate through a variety of methods to help provide high quality care and support for residents. Key collaboration avenues available include interdisciplinary team meetings, utilization of technology platforms for real-time communication and coordination (in certain communities), availability of strong depth of knowledge for mentorship opportunities, and training and development programs. Through these efforts, Brookdale employees work together to help provide high quality care and create a nurturing community for all residents.

With close to 36,000 employees across the nation, we acknowledge the importance of offering compensation and benefit packages that appeal to a wide range of individuals looking to meet their professional goals. We know that the satisfaction of those we serve can be impacted by the happiness of our employees, so we work tirelessly to make sure our employee benefit offerings are attractive and competitive while addressing a multitude of possible needs, from health care to perks like discounts on major services and products. We also know our employees can be our best recruiters. It’s why we created the Good People Program: an employee referral program that provides bonuses to eligible employees for referring their friends or family for employment opportunities.
We provide a wide variety of benefits and programs to help people in all aspects of their lives, whether it be financial, social, well-being or health. In addition to our standard offerings like comprehensive medical, dental, and vision, we offer the potential for unique supports for employees. For example, we offer the Employee Compassion Fund, a financial assistance program for eligible employees who have experienced extraordinary circumstances in life such as fire, major injury, significant loss from natural disasters, or other special situations. We also recognize the importance of certain milestones in our employees’ lives. To that end, we have even created a financial assistance program to provide employees who are ready to become U.S. Citizens the funds to apply for their naturalization with the USCIS.
We also offer opportunities for employees to obtain adoption support, renter’s insurance, tuition reimbursement, legal assistance plans, commuter benefits, auto insurance discount, pet insurance, part-time benefits, and more.
