BGC currently employs more than 17,000 individuals throughout Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Our company strives to engage partners of all backgrounds and celebrates our diversity and individuality. The company has a DE&I Manager and Council which focus on implementing programs and initiatives that support and celebrates diversity. We also recognize our partners who have taken action to further DE&I in the workplace and their community through our annual DE&I Champion award. The company knows the importance of staying connected to the communities in which we operate. The connection is much more than just providing quality products and services people have come to expect in our stores. We strive to help provide better communities in which to live and work.
Partners collaborate throughout our company by helping serve their communities, not only in stores, but also through community events. Partners volunteer approximately 20,000 hours annually. In times of crisis, such as hurricanes and tornadoes, BGC deploys the Community Kitchen food truck to affected communities to provide hot meals to those in need. In 2023, BGC’s Giving Back program donated over $785,000 to support education, hunger relief, military, first responders, health and wellness, and child and family wellbeing.
BGC annually hosts the FRESH 15 race in Tyler, Texas, which has raised over $1.8 million for charities since the race’s inception in 2014. BGC gives 100% of race revenue back to nonprofit organizations.
The BGC Charity Golf Tournament, which is held annually, has raised more than $9.5 million since 1988. All proceeds are donated to hundreds of nonprofit organizations within the Company’s market areas that align with BGC’s charitable focus areas hunger relief, education, health and wellness, family wellbeing, military and first responders.
BGC also hosts a Heroes Flight for military veterans, which is an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C. to see memorials and monuments in their honor. To date, more than 500 veterans have made the trip.
The company strives to be an employer of choice by offering rich benefits that include medical, prescription drug, vision, dental, paid-time off, stock ownership, a 401K retirement plan, and incentive plans. BGC has also established a Partners Care Fund, made possible through the generosity of BGC partners, was established in 2017 as a way for partners to help each other in times of serious financial hardship resulting from qualifying events. In 2023, The Partners Care Fund provided approximately $110,000 in financial assistance to 70 partners. In addition to individual grant distributions, more than 3,000 partners who were impacted by the widespread power outages received $200 BGC/Reasor’s gift cards totaling over $600,000.
In addition to the 10% employee discount on groceries twice each week, partners are awarded extra discounts for Juneteenth, Supermarket Employee Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and milestone anniversaries.
BGC values the health and wellbeing of our partners, therefore the company offers wellness challenges, discounts, and rewards for managing one’s health. As an added benefit, partners are eligible to receive a 10% discount (twice per week) for purchases at any BGC store. BGC also offers several non-traditional benefits, including weekly pay, flexible scheduling, premium holiday pay for hourly employees, partner discount, and access to the company’s 205-acre outdoor recreation area.
Additionally, the Company offers a BGC Dollars for Scholars scholarship program which supports partners who aspire to continue their growth and development by awarding them funds to continue their higher education.
