With a hybrid workforce our employees use Microsoft Teams to communicate within and across teams and to host remote meetings. Our offices are available for employees to work from when required and we host regular anchor days to ensure some face to face time. In addition we arrange a number of social activities and events throughout the year. Employees are actively encouraged at all levels to get involved with companywide or department specific projects to aid continuous improvements across the organisation.
Ciphr is a fast growth business with a fantastic culture based on trust, authenticity, accountability and the drive to succeed. Our solutions help thousands of HR professionals to unlock the value of their people.
One of our values is authenticity and we want all employees to bring their true, best selves to work. We encourage input and ideas from across the business, for example we recently embarked on a programme to improve some of our customer onboarding processes. To ensure we had a mix of views, representatives from all levels and from all departments of the business have been involved in providing their input and shaping the outcomes of this initiative.
We have various professional development streams to help employees progress their career whether working at Ciphr is their first job, they’re taking on management responsibilities or are looking to work more strategically. On a personal level many of the benefits we provide are aimed at supporting our employee’s personal wellbeing with generous financial, healthcare and family friendly benefits available.
When creating our company values and vision we involved our existing workforce to shape them based on the culture we want to experience. These are communicated and reinforced regularly through a variety of means and we hire great people who share these values. These are further underpinned through our competency and performance frameworks, and reward schemes.
We encourage our employees to organise their own social activities and events from drinks and meals out to five-a-side football. It’s these social interactions that cement strong relationships across the company.
As the founder of a fast-growth tech business, it goes without saying that Chris is exceptionally driven. Another Ciphr value is authenticity and, when Chris gives company updates you’ll often hear him say “this is probably too much information, but…” which creates an environment where it’s OK for everyone to be themselves and not be judged.

Prior to the Covid pandemic Ciphr already had robust business continuity practices in place. This meant we were able to switch to fully remote working overnight. During the initial lockdown periods the management conducted regular remote check-ins with all employees and we use our own employee sentiment survey to enable employees to flag any issues they are experiencing. Ciphr now operate on a hybrid basis and have opened our offices to employees who want to work from the office some or all of the time. Employees within a commutable distance, and where it’s suitable to their role, are asked to work from the office for a minimum of two days per week. To reduce the risk of infection we have hand sanitiser dispensers, a regular cleaning schedule and a policy of sitting at alternate desks.
