Clune has a very team-centric environment. Our culture is all about being there for each other. Whether this means traveling out to where our clients need us or being a resource to other team members, Clune employees are always working together. As a national company with national clients, our regional teams have regularly scheduled meetings for collaboration and knowledge sharing across Clune’s markets. Many of our corporate departments, including Business Development, Marketing and Safety, have started hosting annual summits. These summits allow for these national teams to come together for in-person collaboration and planning.
Clune has always been dedicated to our employees, and focuses on empowering them to be successful. This directly ties to maintaining our success as a business. Clune prides itself on the mutual respect between the organization and our employees. We ensure that our values and behaviors are being lived out and true within the organization, helping define “The Clune Way.” Clune maintains this culture and respect by taking care of our employees from day one with an amazing benefits package and ESOP program. Clune’s leadership is also extremely transparent when it comes to sharing the goals and vision for the company.
Clune has made Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) a core focus of our business. Our approach to greater DEI has been one of critical self-examination and accountability. Clune wants to ensure that our efforts are not just performative but true cultural changes within the organization, helping to define “The Clune Way.” In addition, Clune regularly surveys employees to gauge their sentiments about the company. Leadership listens closely to this feedback and makes an effort to implement changes in these areas of improvement. Clune creates an atmosphere that enables all employees’ voices to be heard.
Clune has a dedicated Learning & Development department focused on career development through mentoring, training programs and continuing education. Each employee must complete a minimum of eight training credits throughout a year, consisting of both mandatory and elective courses. Clune also recognizes professional development programs are not one-size-fits-all. While we have numerous internal training opportunities to choose from, we also encourage everyone to look at external courses that may be a better fit for individual careers. Because we value professional development so highly and want our employees to get the most from their courses, Clune reimburses external trainings, seminars and conferences.
Clune’s core values are service, teamwork, respect, excellence, leadership, innovation, and safety. It is our mission to provide exceptional construction services to our clients and business partners; inspire our employee owners; lead with integrity, commitment and purpose; and deliver results which always exceed expectations. Clune takes pride in being a constantly evolving company, never being satisfied with the status quo. Employees at all levels are encouraged to bring new, creative, diverse perspectives into all conversations.
Clune’s offices across the country hold casual, in-office celebrations throughout the year. Some of these celebrations include St. Patrick’s Day, National Pizza Day, Monthly Birthday celebrations and cultural holidays. Recently in Chicago, our office participated in the Aeron Chair Hockey Tournament, which benefits the Special Olympics of Illinois. Employees in our New York office participate in a basketball league. Clune finds little ways to have fun in and out of the office and make everyone feel like a part of Team Clune.
Despite the challenges to the past three years, CEO Dave Hall has stayed focused on the future. His approach to serving as a model for the company consists of:
• Emphasis on “The Clune Way Values and Behaviors” of Service, Teamwork, Respect, Excellence, Leadership, Innovation, and Safety.
• A belief that Clune employees deserve leaders that are role models of Clune’s culture and the Clune Way Values and Behaviors.
• Focus on making operational excellence the norm.
• Regularly asking employees for feedback.
• Being open to new ideas and to change. His motto is “What got us here isn’t going to get us there.”
• Dedication to keep building lifelong wealth for all Clune employees and their families.
Medical, dental, vision and life insurance is 100% paid by the company with participation in our Wellness Program. This includes healthcare premium costs for spouses and eligible dependents. Coverage begins on the first day of employment. Pet insurance is also offered at a discounted rate. Clune also offers the Hinge Health program. This virtual muscular skeletal program allows employees access a digital program for chronic back, knee, hip, shoulder and neck pain. Clune also pays 100% of the premiums for this program. Every employee is part of Clune’s Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), which allows them to have a vested interest in the company’s direction and future. It also adds another later of financial security for Clune employees. Employees are entered into the ESOP plan after one year of employment.
Clune Construction is a national, employee-owned general contractor with more than 700 talented professionals in seven offices across the U.S. We manage over $1.6 billion in construction projects annually across more than 40 states. Having recently opened our newest office in Phoenix, our national presence continues to grow. This growth is attributed to Clune’s dedicated project teams and the relationships they continually build with clients. The foundation of our culture is about being there for each other, internally and externally. At Clune, we aim to support each other, our client’s visions and our communities.
