As an international business, we believe in flexibility, meaning we maintain global ways of working to bond us while respecting local cultures. We are still small and agile enough to foster powerful collaborations and connect with each other in ways that build strong relationships. Anyone can talk to anyone meaning teams throughout the business work in strong partnership with each other to achieve their goals.
We are powered by passionate people who are aligned and committed to a common purpose identified in our vision and mission. We have built a culture of openness that allows deeper connections between people and teams, a sense of belonging and a healthy, safe, diverse and inclusive environment in which to learn, fail and be your authentic self.
We offer a number of communication platforms both on and off line, in person and virtually to enable transparent and two way dialogue. As a result everyone has a clear understanding of what is expected so they can support the business mission, values and culture. A constant feedback loop is created through regular pulse surveys and a comprehensive annual employee engagement survey.
We embrace change and encourage lateral movements to help people follow their ambitions, hone a skill set and achieve future goals. With progressive ways of working to support this learning, we aim to offer a place where people want to be and develop.
Our company values describe how we do things at Colart. They ensure that we’re all working together and pulling in the same direction. We believe by consistently striving to live these values, the same pattern will be woven again and again to create a strong culture and corporate brand:
Openness Being respectful and transparent
Innovation Challenging the status quo
Passion Enjoy to perform
Quality Striving for excellence
We know we can always improve and check how we are doing by asking our people in the annual engagement survey.
At Colart, we want people to feel motivated and empowered to take the lead on the challenges of tomorrow. We therefore encourage people to play an active role in creating the culture that ensures Colart is a company with purpose and a place they want to be. This includes and not limited to DEI Councils, Well being Collectives, Sustainability ambassadors and more formal employee representative mechanisms. We stress the importance of feedback (especially our engagement surveys) as the way to ensure their voice is heard and we have a backup platform allowing concerns to be expressed in an anonymous way if there are any concerns about confidentiality.
Our CEO embodies our flat and non-hierarchical business structure to enable a safe and collaborative environment that underpins our mantra that anyone can to talk to anyone. He underpins the openness of our culture through hosting biweekly Townhalls and his humble, authentic and positive style give people the confidence that there are no hidden agendas and that anything is possible.
We offer a worldwide Employee Assistance program and we ensure everyone earns above the living wage. We operate an aligned global bonus framework and as part of our application for BCorp status, we are also aligning many of our people benefits such as maternity/paternity leave, holidays and sickness.
Based on our experience in China at the start of the pandemic, we took the decision to enable office based people to work from home at the beginning of March 2020 giving us the space at our distribution and manufacturing sites where home working was not possible, to complete zoning exercises and implement COVID proofing to minimise COVID transmission. Over the numerous enforced lock downs, we adjusted our working practices based on feedback and interaction with our people integrating parts of this experience, into our new ‘normal’ ways of working. This hybrid working and intensified focus on wellbeing continues today building on our already flexible and people first mindset.
