Our eight inclusion Eaton Resource Groups (iERGs). They provide a space where various demographic groups and allies work together toward common organizational goals that improve our culture and drive change. More than 11,000 employees are now involved in more than 60 countries. What’s more, nearly 700 iERG members served as talent scouts at recruitment events last year. Internally, they engaged more than 5,000 employees globally through more than 230 learning events.
We’re helping to limit the increase of the world’s temperature to 1.5°C by committing to science-based targets. We also plan to cut emissions from our operations by at least 50% by 2030, achieving carbon neutrality, and we’re working with customers and suppliers to reduce indirect emissions by 15%. We also aim to increase the representation of salaried global women and U.S. minorities and achieve an index inclusion score of 80% or higher by 2030.
Surveying our employees every two years. Feedback from this powerful tool has helped us improve, resulting in notable changes such as flexible work solutions, new leadership development programs, and improvements to our internal recruitment process. Company-wide Town Halls are another way employees can connect with leaders by raising questions and speaking up. We also hold listening circles, which are small, safe spaces across Eaton where employees can respond to current events by sharing their feelings and supporting each other.
Offering 1,500+ online and instructor-led courses through Eaton University, our internal continuing education center. Our Stretch Assignment Marketplace (SAM) program provides development opportunities worldwide where employees work on Eaton projects while learning and networking. We also offer a mentorship program, along with healthcare/retirement savings programs, Care.com services and tuition assistance for ongoing learning and development.

Enterprise-wide Town Halls and informal listening circles that promote active listening. More than 80% of employees who participated in our 2020 pulse survey said they were proud to work at Eaton. That same year, each employee received an average of 8.3 hours of training and development. Co-chairing Business Roundtable’s Committee for Racial Equity and Justice, committing Eaton to the Catalyst CEO Champions for Change Initiative, and signing the I ACT ON pledge. At the end of 2020, 50% of our directors were either women or U.S. minorities, and U.S. minorities comprised 54% of our global leadership team. Today that figure is 56.5%.
Our online E-STAR program, launched in 2013, allows employees to give and receive recognition in the form of E-STARS. On average, 500K+ awards are given every year. We also offer paid time off with vacation, sick days, and holiday observances; donation matching (U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico); recognition programs for a wide range of achievements, a referral program to reward you for helping to find the right candidate, and competitive compensation packages to reward skills and performance.
At the end of 2021, more than 4,300 employees (5% of global employees versus 3% in 2020) participated in our flexible work solutions program. Flexible solutions include compressed work weeks, remote work, job sharing, part-time, flextime and telework. In 2021 we also donated $10,000 to Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s Caregiver Support Fund providing frontline caregivers with meals, housing, and medication during the pandemic. And thousands of our colleagues in more than two dozen countries contributed $350,000 to Eaton’s global employee matching gift program for COVID-19 relief.
