Edmunds

Why Edmunds IS A MOST LOVED WORKPLACE®

Systemic Collaboration

EMPLOYEES COLLABORATE THROUGHOUT OUR COMPANY BY …

At Edmunds, we prioritize creating opportunities for employees to learn, collaborate and innovate. Special events and resources highlight these opportunities, including:
— Annual hackathons, which allow cross-functional teams to come together and compete in creating innovative products to solve consumer needs.
— Annual conference-style learning events, which focus on growth and development, with an added fun, competitive component.
— Soft-skill development sessions, where employees across different departments are invited to share and learn from one another.
— Special interest groups: Our six Employee Resource Groups provide space for employees to share their experience and build community.
Additionally, Edmunds has long maintained a flexible, hybrid work environment that places significant emphasis on collaboration to ensure employees feel engaged and appreciated even while sometimes physically apart. While different stages of the pandemic were disruptive for most companies, Edmunds was well-suited to collaborate and communicate effectively due to having prioritized this as a central aspect of our culture.

Positive Vision of the Future

EMPLOYEES AT OUR COMPANY HAVE A POSITIVE VISION FOR THE FUTURE BECAUSE …

…they are actively co-creating it.
Edmunds has a defined vision and mission and spends considerable effort each year ensuring every individual understands the organization’s direction and the role they play in achieving our collective goals. However, just as important as what we aim to achieve is HOW we aim to achieve it. We do this through our values that make up the acronym T.R.U.S.T. (Transparency, Resourcefulness, Urgency, Simplicity and Togetherness).
Staying true to these values empowers all employees to make decisions and create limitless impact. We provide transparency in the form of making information available to all employees to enable the best decision-making. Resourcefulness, Urgency and Simplicity are employed in the ways in which each individual is asked to think strategically and innovatively when building our future, and Togetherness ensures that everyone feels the pride and value of being part of something bigger than themselves.

Company Respect

WE SHOW RESPECT AND ENSURE THAT ALL VOICES ARE HEARD AND IDEAS ARE VALUED THROUGHOUT THE COMPANY BY …

… creating an environment where employee-led groups drive significant influence through Edmunds’ Employee Resource Groups (ERG). Each ERG has one or more leaders from across the organization who volunteer their time, experience and expertise. Since the ERGs launched in 2020, leaders and members of these groups have hosted hundreds of development sessions, career and volunteer events, as well as external speaking engagements and “EdTable” Talks to discuss topics that resonate with the group. Additionally, they have played a significant and powerful role in creating a safe space and providing resources for anyone who struggled with the various social, physical, political and economic disruptions from the pandemic.

Company Support / Killer Outcomes

WE SUPPORT OUR EMPLOYEES IN ACHIEVING THEIR PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL GOALS BY …

Instead of formal, systems-based performance reviews that really only benefit the company, Edmunds utilizes a program called FUEL Your Potential, which is based on creating a catalyst for important feedback conversations. We provide a variety of conversation starters and ask employees to engage in conversations with their manager that will be most meaningful to them. Edmunds leadership and HR teams recognize that we can’t prescribe a one-size-fits-all solution, as our employees need different guidance at different times in their career journey. Instead, this model ensures employees receive tailored career guidance, feedback and growth opportunities as their career advances with Edmunds.

Alignment of Values

OUR COMPANY’S VALUES ARE ALIGNED WITH OUR EMPLOYEES BECAUSE …

…we take pride in empowering consumers to make the very best car shopping decisions by putting our tools in shoppers’ hands, and empowerment becomes second-nature and sets the tone for everything within Edmunds’ company culture. Welcoming and promoting diverse perspectives and experiences in the innovative work we do, in the engaging workplace we cultivate, and in the diverse communities we support; it all comes back to empowerment.
We believe this is possible by upholding our values of TRUST, an acronym of the values we hold true consisting of Transparency, Resourcefulness, Urgency, Simplicity and Togetherness. Within these values, our culture is rooted in the belief that we can only thrive if we are able to trust and empower one another: trusting one another to get the job done on flexible terms (through our hybrid workplace that allows our talent to work where they are most comfortable) and trusting one another in our ability and comfort in bringing our whole, true selves to our workplace.

Company Practices / Love

PROGRAMS AND PRACTICES WE GIVE TO OUR EMPLOYEES THAT CREATE A LOVED WORKPLACE ARE …

Employee empathy is at the heart of many Edmunds employee programs and practices, including:
— DEI opportunities such as participation and leadership roles within Edmunds’ employee-led employee resource groups (ERGs) formed based on particular interests to share a common space, support each other and spread awareness
— Edmunds’ Results Only Work Environment (“ROWE”), which essentially creates a “choose your own adventure” hybrid workplace, putting trust in our employees to be adults and get the job done without Big Brother watching over them
— Our donation matching program provides the opportunities for employees to give back to their communities and Edmunds will match their donation

CEO Strengths

OUR CEO SERVES AS A MODEL OF OUR COMPANY VALUES BY …

Edmunds President Seth Berkowitz relishes the opportunity to purchase a new car, and this fascination underscores his vision of turning Edmunds into the best and most seamless digital marketplace for car buying and selling. Berkowitz understands that car shopping marketplaces like Edmunds have a responsibility to provide a high level of transparency for shoppers, including accurate price estimates and appraisal values, as well as unbiased vehicle rankings. Berkowitz ensures transparency is also at the heart of his leadership approach with an authentic communication style that filters down through the rest of the leadership team and the organization at-large.
