GAMA Healthcare

Why GAMA Healthcare IS A MOST LOVED WORKPLACE®

Systemic Collaboration

EMPLOYEES COLLABORATE THROUGHOUT OUR COMPANY BY …

One of our Values is “We Win Together” – we each commit to playing our part to create great teamwork, and collaboration is at the heart of this. Our amazing (award winning) offices were designed specifically to foster and facilitate collaboration with state-of-the art meeting rooms, and collaboration spaces.
Post COVID we moved to “hybrid” working where employees can work remotely 3 days per week and we therefore ensure collaboration continues in a number of ways: we encourage teams to have a day each week where they are all in the office together to foster knowledge sharing and collaboration; we have thriving Charities Committees and Social Committees at each of our sites which create a vibrant and inclusive culture; online “Friday Learns” (Town Hall meetings) are held every week via Zoom featuring updates from the CEO’s and different departments; we introduced “Meet Your Colleagues ”sessions; regular face to face whole company updates and team build activity within teams and between different departments to foster communication and collaboration across the business (these also reflect one of our other Values “We Have Fun”)!

Positive Vision of the Future

EMPLOYEES AT OUR COMPANY HAVE A POSITIVE VISION FOR THE FUTURE BECAUSE …

They are bought into and committed to our purpose and why we exist: to help prevent infections to improve and save lives. We have a recently created and clearly articulated our compelling 5-year strategic framework, communicated through the metaphor of “The GAMA House” – a state of the art house with solid foundations, underpinned by our Values, held up by our strategic pillars and with sustainability running through the core. Our employees can see a clear link between their role and the success of the organisation (this question scored a rating of 8.1 out of 10 in our recent survey through The Happiness Index). In addition, GAMA has enjoyed a successful growth trajectory since inception and our employees have created, and enjoy being part of, that success story.

Company Respect

WE SHOW RESPECT AND ENSURE THAT ALL VOICES ARE HEARD AND IDEAS ARE VALUED THROUGHOUT THE COMPANY BY …

We participate in regular engagement surveys through The Happiness Index (THI). In our last culture survey, we scored 8 out of 10 on the Happiness Index measure and 7.9 on Engagement Index. The Happiness Index average across all organisations is 7.4. We also use the Employee Voice where employees can feed back comments and suggestions at any time (completely anonymously). Our CEOs hold drop in “Enablement Sessions” where employees can provide feedback on improvements and enablers, and we hold regular focus groups at all our sites as well as “You Said, We Did” updates in terms of progress, changes and initiatives as a results of their feedback. We actively encourage employee suggestions and participation through a range of channels including suggestions related to our Fit For Future and sustainability initiatives.

Company Support / Killer Outcomes

WE SUPPORT OUR EMPLOYEES IN ACHIEVING THEIR PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL GOALS BY …

Our CEOs have ensured that every employee has a Personal Development Plan and has a “protected half day” every month that they use to focus purely on their personal development in support of their current role or future goals and aspirations. Our employees also have a personal Contribution Plan in respect of their goals and objectives for the year – their contribution to achieving the team goals.

Alignment of Values

OUR COMPANY’S VALUES ARE ALIGNED WITH OUR EMPLOYEES BECAUSE …

Our employees themselves defined what our Values would be and what these would look and feel like so there is a real pride and a strong sense of ownership. We have also developed examples of behaviours of how to live and role model the Values. Demonstration of the Values is a key factor in the calculation of the annual bonus award for all employees – evidencing a direct link between values related behaviour and reward and we recognise and celebrate where employees role model these throughout the year.
Our Values guide our people, our practices, and our culture – from having fun to finding new ways to innovate, these are part of what makes GAMA unique and the thread that runs through everything we do. Our Values are:
– We are curious and innovative
– We win together
– We have fun
– We are passionate
– We are supportive and caring

Company Practices / Love

PROGRAMS AND PRACTICES WE GIVE TO OUR EMPLOYEES THAT CREATE A LOVED WORKPLACE ARE …

Amazing (and award winning) state of the art office space to facilitate collaboration, socialisation, inclusion, fun and wellbeing. Our office has a fun space with pool table, table tennis, and basket ball hoops, collaboration areas such as “The Floating Garden”, treehouse meeting rooms and gorgeous large kitchen and dining area as well as a dedicated wellness room (a quiet space with a “spa feel” where people can reflect and catch their breath). We provide “Juice Tuesdays,” “Donut Wednesdays,” healthy breakfast every day, free fruit, array of hot drinks, cold drinks fridges throughout the building, snacks, a “chocolate drawer” and an ice cream freezer. Free onsite massages and off-site team build events at least twice per year that provide a business update but also focus on socialisation, collaboration and importantly, FUN!

CEO Strengths

OUR CEO SERVES AS A MODEL OF OUR COMPANY VALUES BY …

Our joint CEOs founded GAMA Healthcare in 2004. At that time, they were NHS doctors with a vision to make things safer for their patients in terms of infection prevention and control. That remains the company’s purpose and both CEOs actively encourage people to “live and breathe” the Values and ensure these underpin the foundations of our Strategic Framework.
Our CEOs have created a Values driven business from the top down and ensure this is reflected in everything we do: our relationships with our customers, our vision, our behaviours, the emphasis we place on the charities we support that share a similar purpose to our own, our sustainability pledge and that we will always do the right thing (for example during COVID we released our clinical and scientific directors to work temporarily in the NHS (with GAMA still fully paying wages) where they played a significant role.
