Enabling people to set their career goals. We want all employees to be empowered and take on roles that they genuinely enjoy doing and have a passion for. We support training and development needs, either by having technical and career mentors (internally and externally to the company) a dedicated training budget and the concept of Gemba days. Every employee gets 10 days for self development (conference, or training course) or exploration (taking part in a hackathon for instance). These Gemba days are crafted with the individual and their people manager to look at areas to grow/ improve/ learn and also give back to the wider Gemba community. We also ensure our calendar of events focuses on national and international events that we know are really important to the people of Gemba – for employee health and fitness month we ran a completion with people posting a daily challenge – those who got the most participation won a prize, and who completed the most challenges got a prize too. The important message here is, we put time and effort in to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to join in, engage in activities that will make their working lives better and importantly, have fun while doing it.
