Why Gemba Advantage IS A MOST LOVED WORKPLACE®

Systemic Collaboration

EMPLOYEES COLLABORATE THROUGHOUT OUR COMPANY BY …

Adhering to our Guiding Principles – some being; ‘the best ideas win’ and ‘be inclusive’. It’s in our DNA to be inclusive and collaborate to get the best ideas and outcomes for our clients, as well as improve our internal ways of working.
We also ensure that while we are a remote by default organisation that face to face time is booked in, whether that be through a form of development (attending a conference and doing a lunch and learn) or taking part in a beach clean to engage and get to know colleagues from across different projects. Remote collaboration can be challenging, but at Gemba we know how important it is to invest in time spend with each other, and find unique, engaging and fun ways to do this.

Positive Vision of the Future

EMPLOYEES AT OUR COMPANY HAVE A POSITIVE VISION FOR THE FUTURE BECAUSE …

All of their opinions are valued. We give everyone a voice and the opportunity to help the shape the future of the company. We are constantly scrutinising ourselves, to ensure that we are the best we can be, and we can be only be the best by unlocking and harnessing the talent from the entire organisation.
We also have a strong mission and are incredibly dedicated to ensuring value is at the centre of our vision.
Being a start up we have so much opportunity to ‘think different and be inventive’ (another guiding principle) with everything we do, from day to day operations to achieving our 10 year vision.
We also ensure that exploration and innovation is at the heart of our operating model, we don’t stand still, we always want to be exploring the best approaches.

Company Respect

WE SHOW RESPECT AND ENSURE THAT ALL VOICES ARE HEARD AND IDEAS ARE VALUED THROUGHOUT THE COMPANY BY …

Constantly welcoming feedback, at all levels. The C-suite have open office hours, AMA forums, anonymous ideas slack channels, and hold company wide retros. Nothing is off limits, and we always try to show transparency and alignment to our values in every action we take – the positive and the negative.
We succeed and fail as a team which is important, there is no single success or failure, and we are constantly striving to make our company better. We can’t do this without all voices from the company contributing.

Company Support / Killer Outcomes

WE SUPPORT OUR EMPLOYEES IN ACHIEVING THEIR PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL GOALS BY …

Enabling people to set their career goals. We want all employees to be empowered and take on roles that they genuinely enjoy doing and have a passion for. We support training and development needs, either by having technical and career mentors (internally and externally to the company) a dedicated training budget and the concept of Gemba days. Every employee gets 10 days for self development (conference, or training course) or exploration (taking part in a hackathon for instance). These Gemba days are crafted with the individual and their people manager to look at areas to grow/ improve/ learn and also give back to the wider Gemba community. Whether you have an interest in the next generation of data science, or want to teach at a STEM outreach programme, Gemba will support your aspirations.

Alignment of Values

OUR COMPANY’S VALUES ARE ALIGNED WITH OUR EMPLOYEES BECAUSE …

We live and breath our values. ‘Our people are our most important asset’ and we put people at the front of centre of every decision we make. We know that by treating our people exceptionally well, and focusing on their individual needs, they will come to work energised and naturally perform better to deliver excellent value. Every employee experience will be different but they should all be excellent.
Our people management approach is not any bog standard line management approach, it is a real focus on employee experience and well being, with tailored career paths for everyone. We want everyone to have a relevant, flexible and unique career that they have built and feel empowered to carry on growing.

Company Practices / Love

PROGRAMS AND PRACTICES WE GIVE TO OUR EMPLOYEES THAT CREATE A LOVED WORKPLACE ARE …

Our People Management approach is pioneering and gets great feedback from our employees. We genuinely care about each and every person in the company, so enabling tailored training as well as dedicated people to ensure that their well being is being looked after is fundamental.
Our committees also keep on us track, from celebrating diversity and sending unique gifts to everyone in the company to join in (Kosher wine for passover, Easter egg mould for easter) to organising beach cleans and sending out sustainability guides.
We also ensure our calendar of events focuses on national and international events that we know are really important to the people of Gemba – for employee health and fitness month we ran a completion with people posting a daily challenge – those who got the most participation won a prize, and who completed the most challenges got a prize too. The important message here is, we put time and effort in to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to join in, engage in activities that will make their working lives better and importantly, have fun while doing it.

CEO Strengths

OUR CEO SERVES AS A MODEL OF OUR COMPANY VALUES BY …

being his authentic self. It hasn’t been the smoothest journey starting a pioneering company at the start of a pandemic, but he lead the company, demonstrated his ability to lead even in the most trying times, and bought an authentic and genuine transparency and approachability that resonates with the whole company.

Benefits

EXAMPLES OF UNIQUE BENEFITS, BONUS, OR COMPENSATION WE PROVIDE ARE …

Our Gemba days are a really unique offering, and the fact that they are not pre-determined and allow autonomous learning is key.
We work with the people of Gemba to understand what benefits they would find most beneficial in their working lives – and prioritise needs accordingly.
Being remote by default allows greater flexibility and greater work life balance.
We have compassionate leave, but no allowance. Everyone deals with grief differently and should be allowed the space and support to do so.
We celebrate personal life achievements with our people – marriage, babies, work-iversaries, birthdays.
We have excellent private health care and life insurance
We are also always looking at next generation benefits – electric car schemes, gym memberships (but to gyms people already use) greater maternity / paternity leave.

Our response to COVID-19

Gemba Advantage started formally with employees at the start of the pandemic and was ready to deliver value to customers from day 1. Our secure infrastructure allowed us to work on client work, collaborating effectively remotely. We socialised and engaged remotely, and this will remain as the world opens up again. We can now all meet face to face (safely) and do so safely and promote employee social interaction, but fundamentally we know the value hybrid flexible working can offer and intend to continue working this way.
