Joining Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), which are an integral part of our Inclusion & Diversity program and are open to all of our employees around the world regardless of background. ERGs foster a sense of belonging and inclusion that can spark innovation and accelerate employee development. Nearly 60% (7,200+) of our employees belong to at least one of our six ERGs, demonstrating the impact and important role of these groups at Gilead. Each ERG is resourced to drive actions across five pillars: recruiting, professional development, culture, business impact, and community.
Our employees are inspired by the vision of making the world a healthier place, and their dedication advances our work toward this goal. Our people come to Gilead seeking to serve a greater purpose. Their ingenuity and diversity of thought allow us to prevent, treat and even cure life-threatening diseases. Gilead fosters an environment of growth where we invest in professional development and individuals are empowered to own their careers.
Gilead is committed to fostering inclusion for all our employees. We have instituted progressive policies to ensure our culture is one in which every individual feels seen, heard and respected. As one example, our Global Gender Identity and Transition Policy is just one of many policies at Gilead enacted to encourage employees to express their true gender identity and support those who may be in transition. We aim to foster an affirming workplace for our transgender and gender non-binary colleagues.
We invest in employees’ development and wellbeing through programs and benefits designed to attract, cultivate and retain the industry’s most talented workforce. For example, our Early Talent and Learning & Development programs foster continuous growth by providing the tools, skills and support for employees to grow their careers and to globalize and democratize our approach to learning and development, we made LinkedIn Learning available to all employees with a library of over 16,000 courses available on demand.
Leaders across the organization listen carefully to employees. We continue to expand programs based on employee feedback and track on progress toward culture, DE&I, and wellness goals. Gilead aspires to be the employer of choice for diverse talent, foster an inclusive culture where differences are leveraged to innovate and enable our mission and demonstrate leadership on equitable and socially responsible practices. Our Global Employee Pulse Survey checks in on employee perspectives regularly. The feedback received provides valuable insight into where employees values, where they believe we are doing well and where they feel we need to adjust.
One example is through the Gilead Foundation, our philanthropic “Giving Together” program, which allows us to match our employees’ donations to causes they care about and invest in community programs focused on education, social services and sustainability. We make investments to ensure an inclusive workplace such as the Blueprint for Change and the Advancing Black Leadership Strategy, which are helping to shift the needle on employee experience. 100% of our global employees are offered a paid day off to volunteer with an organization of their choice.
Elevating our focus on inclusion and diversity across the company and through our partnerships and connections with the communities we serve. At Gilead, inclusion and diversity are critical to fulfilling our mission of delivering life-changing therapies and improving the world for future generations. Mr. O'Day actively listens to teams, employees, and stakeholders, bringing to life our values of teamwork, accountability and excellence. Through his actions and in interactions across the company, he models integrity, making it clear that Gilead employees should do what’s right, even when that is the more difficult path.
Gilead has a comprehensive and competitive compensation package design to retain and attract the industry’s best talent. We conduct an annual pay equity review of employee compensation to ensure that our pay practices are gender neutral. We value employee wellbeing and demonstrate that support through a variety of benefits including counseling, elder care, childcare, financial coaching, pet insurance and more. Employees can receive reimbursement for tuition expenses incurred while pursuing undergraduate, graduate or certificate courses. We also offer all employees a wellbeing credit that was doubled this year and covers numerous health and wellness offerings for employees. We’ve created indoor and outdoor spaces to support the holistic wellbeing of our employees. A recently opened 61,000-sq. ft. Wellbeing Center at our Foster City HQ includes a gym, health clinic, group exercise classes, meditation gardens, juice bars, and more.
