participating regularly in cross-team projects and initiatives to ensure seamless customer experiences. We created an innovation forum with participants selected from different teams to develop new business ideas and bring them to fruition. Our people are encouraged to share knowledge and experiences from the beginning of their career with us for example new joiner breakfasts and product overviews are a mandatory part of our induction programme. Lunch and learns are also offered regularly for all employees and there are a number of collaborative groups set up on our Intranet (The Hub).
Regular communication from directors, divisional leads, and line managers is key and this is done in a variety of ways from team meetings to Hub messages. Our people are very aware of the company’s values and how they should be applied every day. There is a strong culture of continuous improvement and innovation (one of our core values) which is helping us to achieve current priorities and future ambitions. People have a good understanding of the long and short term priorities of the company and are committed to ensuring that they are achieved.
Respect and Integrity is our overarching core value. Managers make people feel valued by encouraging them to take the lead and make decisions in their role. The majority of people are regularly consulted about things that ae going to impact them on an organisational and departmental level. They feel there are regular opportunities for them to feel contribute to the decision making process. This makes them feel respected and valued.
Learning and Development has always played a major role in our people strategy. We place a particular emphasis on developing management and leadership skills, most recently having designed and delivered a 12 month in-house People Manager program. A select number of this cohort have taken this a step further and also nearing completion of a Level 3 Award in Management and Leadership accredited by the Chartered Management Institute and run by an external provider. We have a Competency Framework designed to support personal objectives which feeds into recruitment, appraisals and progression. The development of technical skills is also highly supported with excellent in-house training and we support a number of our people with professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIPD, CIM, and Cert CII. Informally we host Lunch and Learn sessions open to all colleagues.
Our company values are very visible to employees from day one, starting with recruitment, induction and through to our appraisal, reward and promotion process. We run an annual award ceremony where people our nominated for consistently demonstrating one of our core values, and every has the opportunity to vote. People have a good understanding of our values and are committed to reflecting them in the way that they work.
