Having multiple resources, avenues and programs available to help nurture their career path and ways to discover numerous and diverse perspectives. For example, the Grand Impact Committees at our resorts, encourages team members to post celebrations and share how their properties give back to the community. HGV’s 12 Team Member Resource Groups (TMRGs) also contribute to various charitable and educational efforts throughout their communities. These empowered groups further foster the openness, integrity and respect we strive for as a company while sustaining an environment of continual learning through their commitment to work in service of their communities.
At HGV, team members are like family, which is represented in every single aspect of the company. For over 30 years, we have fostered a strong culture of growth, empowerment, diversity and inspiration for our team members. Our people-first mentality is inclusive of programs and services that are designed to ensure our team members feel engaged, appreciated and rewarded for their contributions. They have a passion for creating exceptional travel experiences for owners and guests and a commitment to delivering excellence. Working for a company that is also focused on an accelerated growth path, helps encourage and lead team members to multiple growth opportunities and leadership development at HGV.
Providing several opportunities for team members at all levels to have a voice and feel heard by leadership. In addition to an annual engagement survey, which in 2022 over 9,000 team members participated in, we offer shorter surveys throughout the year for team members to share feedback. The surveys give senior leadership insight on different categories including: overall engagement, specific drivers of engagement, advocacy and retention. These methods provide a purposeful connection with our team members, essentially, the lifeline that helps inform HGV of its decision-making process and learn what team members love most about HGV.
Promoting and encouraging participation in several of HGV’s training courses and inspiring leadership development at all levels. With a curriculum of over 1,000 distinct courses, team members can participate in specific learning experiences that help build business acumen and increase leadership capacity. For example, GM Bootcamp is a development training course specific to individuals who are on track to become a General Manager at a resort. It’s also one of HGV’s key priorities to appreciate and recognize team member milestones throughout their journey with the company. Personal achievements are recognized internally, by SPARK Recognition platform, inviting team members to send recognition in a special way in real time along with a service anniversary program, offering service benefits such as stay certificates to HGV resorts for team members who have been with the company for 10 years or more. HGV also holds an annual internal awards gala, Champions Club, which celebrates team members extraordinary performance.
We believe that the success of our business is fundamentally connected to the well-being of our people, and we live by the adage: "If you take care of your people, they will take care of you.” Our most important strength is our people. By putting people first, HGV ensures team members become family and their work is reflective of our core values – Hospitality, Integrity, Leadership, Teamwork, Ownership and Now (HILTON). Furthermore, at HGV, inclusion, diversity, equity and belonging are at the core of who we are. Our commitment to these principles is unyielding – across all business areas and our global footprint.
Those that provide, reward and highlight milestones that recognize exceptional service standards of our team members and promote our company values. Champions Club, for example, celebrates the top-performers at HGV with an annual awards gala to recognize exceptional performance during the year. Personal achievements are also recognized internally, by SPARK Recognition platform, inviting team members to send recognition in a special way via WOW cards or points that can be redeemed for gifts cards or other items. In 2022, over 33,000 SPARK recognitions were sent and over 55,000 recognitions were received. Through its corporate responsibility program, HGV Serves, HGV inspires and encourages its team members to give back to their local communities through volunteer opportunities. HGV is also committed to creating rewarding travel experiences and a fulfilling work-life balance through Go Hilton our Team Member and Family Travel Program and generous paid time off to relax and recharge.
HGV’s team members are the heart of the company and the key to the company’s success. For HGV’s 30th anniversary, the company hosted its first all-team member Town Hall event as one combined company post acquisition of Diamond Resorts in August 2021. President and CEO Mark Wang was a keynote speaker of the event and connected with team members, both in-person and virtually, on their dedication to creating exceptional shared travel experiences and how far the company has come in 30 years. Guided by HGV values, Mark understands the company’s most important strength is its people. Team members unwavering dedication to creating extraordinary experiences is remarkable and is what drives the company to create once-in-a-lifetime adventures.
