About the Company

Home Run Inn is a proud family-owned establishment with rich Chicago history. Originating in 1923, Mary and Vincent Grittani opened a modest tavern on the city's South Side. It was in 1947 that Mary, alongside her son-in-law Nick Perrino, perfected the iconic Chicago pizza recipe. The tale of Home Run Inn's birth is woven with a touch of serendipity, as a baseball from a nearby park shattered a tavern window, inspiring the name. Since then, Home Run Inn has been synonymous with quality, uniting patrons over delectable thin-crust pizza, continuing its legacy of bringing people together.

Why is Home Run Inn a Most Loved Workplace®?

Teammates at our company have a positive vision for the future because we actively
support their understanding of it. Our CEO has articulated a clear vision and growth
trajectory for the company, which teammates can access and discuss at quarterly Town
Hall meetings or through conversations with their managers. Additionally, our CEO
provides monthly video updates, outlining important news and highlighting progress
towards our future goals. This transparency and communication channels ensure that
all teammates are well-informed and aligned with the company's vision, fostering a
sense of optimism and purpose among our workforce.

Our company values are aligned with our teammates because they actively contributed
to crafting them. At HRI, our values of Family, Pride, Grit, and Courage are not just
words on paper; they are ingrained in our culture because we shaped them together,
incorporating valuable feedback. This collaborative process ensures that our team feels
a sense of ownership and connection to these values. We are all in, committed, and
accountable as a family, setting high standards, continuously learning, and
demonstrating courage by embracing challenges without blame or excuses. This
alignment fosters a strong sense of unity and purpose within our organization.

Our CEO embodies our company values by exemplifying a commitment to growth and
learning. He leads by asking questions, encouraging innovation, and fostering an
environment where continuous improvement is celebrated. Approachable and
supportive, he makes himself available to all teammates, embodying humility by
acknowledging his own ongoing journey of self-improvement. His openness about
personal growth sets a precedent, reassuring others that mistakes are opportunities for
learning and growth. Through his leadership, he has transformed our company into a
dynamic hub of development, where curiosity is encouraged, and every challenge is
seen as a chance to evolve.

We employ various methods to achieve this, starting with biannual surveys where team members can express their thoughts. The Employee Experience team meticulously reviews all comments and crafts departmental presentations to address concerns and implement changes. Additionally, we conduct Team Health Surveys twice a year, based on Pat Lencioni's principles, to assess team dynamics and ensure trust, healthy conflict, commitment, and accountability. Regular check-ins further reinforce this culture of openness, with every teammate given a platform to voice their views on strengths, areas for improvement, and ongoing successes.

Our company fosters a culture of collaboration and communication through various
initiatives. We hold quarterly or monthly "roundtable meetings," bringing together
teammates from different locations to discuss vital topics. Additionally, quarterly Town
Hall meetings provide a platform for all teammates to voice opinions and ideas. Our
communication platform, Community via Paylocity, facilitates connection and sharing
among teammates. The Stagen Foundational Leadership Course equips teammates
with essential tools for collaboration, time management, and how to foster healthy
teams. We conduct regular surveys, including culture and team health surveys,
gathering feedback to improve our culture and enhance teammate engagement
effectively and efficiently.

We offer a range of unique benefits, bonuses, and compensation packages to ensure
our teammates feel valued and supported. From the annual HRI Paid Holiday,
celebrating our annual company picnic, to Summer Hours for Office Staff, we prioritize
work-life balance. Paid Volunteer Hours and a Floating Holiday encourage community
engagement and personal time. Our innovative Share a Piece of the Pie bonus program
rewards collective success with larger yearly bonuses for all teammates. Our Part-time
teammates receive additional benefits like Dental and Vision reimbursement. Plus, we
provide Direct2Care, a free virtual medical assistance service for all teammates,
demonstrating our commitment to their health and well-being.
