Every year we transparently update and define our organization’s strategic plan. This allows our employees to understand where the Rodeo is headed as well as the role they individually play in ensuring we stay on that path by completing their own short-term and long-term goals. We also provide ample opportunities for employees to hear from our C-suite and ask questions about current and future projects, company goals and ideas.
We have a clearly defined mission that truly guides every decision we make at the Rodeo. As a non-profit organization rooted in education, agriculture, entertainment and western heritage, our employees are consistently working to be the best in their field while also making a difference in our community.
Cultivating an environment of openness and inclusion. Our CEO, Dr. Chris Boleman, is both approachable and accessible; available to ideate, listen, share, and discuss with employees. He is a leader in our industry and continues to empower and engage with employees daily. He sends a “Motivational Monday” email that serves as an encouragement to employees, provides wisdom and insight at the start of each week.
Inviting a small group of employees on a rotating basis to a casual conversation with our CEO every month where no topic is off limits. Every new employee also has a chance to meet with our CEO 1-on-1 at the beginning of their employment. Every job here is critical to the success of the Show and employees are entrusted with a lot of responsibility. In our most recent engagement survey (May 2023), employees said they feel genuinely appreciated with a satisfaction score of 4.97 on a scale of 5.00. We rely on our employees to tell us when things aren’t working and encourage them to give us input on how to improve the organization. In that same survey, employees said their ideas are encouraged with a satisfaction score of 4.42 out of 5.
Participating in regular team and department meetings as well as setting up time to meet with coworkers in different areas. It would be impossible to put on an event like ours without successful collaboration between departments. All our teams must work together to ensure things run smoothly, whether Information Services team works with the Mission team or Marketing team working with Operations team, we are all strong collaborators.
