Positivity is embedded in our company at Kendra Scott! Kendra Scott was founded on the belief that we exist to create good in the world. Year over year our team can see continued growth not only in company revenue numbers, but in the retail store footprint, new corporate positions, opportunities for promotion and job elevation, and continuous improvement in company offered benefits and training and development focus. Kendra herself shines like a bright, positive light in the lives of all of her employees. Allowing our employees to feel the positive energy and share that with our customers and communities.
We have a wonderful leader of Philanthropy and Belonging that assures that at an enterprise level we are establishing programs and feedback avenues that are easily accessible to all. We also have a DEI committee comprised of employees from a variety of departments and levels across the company that act as an advisory board in our ongoing DEI strategy and outreach efforts. Additionally, we have an anonymous hotline for our KS family to surface concerns and we do a pulse survey 2x a year to ensure we understand and take action in alignment with employee needs.
Each year we kick off our first quarter with goal setting and performance conversations This year we added an important element of an Alignment Day session for all employees. In this, Functional leaders pull together their teams in an alignment session to talk company goals, team goals and any current obstacles or pain points. These Alignment Days connect us back to why we’re here at Kendra Scott – to create good in the world! Our employees walk out of these sessions with a restored focus on our pillars (Family, Fashion, and Philanthropy), a refreshed perspective on how we can show up for one another, and a renewed focus on priorities for the year ahead.
At Kendra Scott everyone is incredibly aligned to our pillars of Family, Fashion, and Philanthropy. These serve as our North Star for every business decision that we make. We are continually asking for feedback from employees to assure that there is alignment. We have and will continue to adapt to life post pandemic meeting employees where they are at and offering benefits that are needed most from mental health support to flexible work schedules.
There are so many! We could talk about awesome perks and cool work spaces at length, but really it is our leadership commitment to connecting with purpose, leading with heart, and winning together that creates a Loved Workplace. Our leadership sets the tone to create an incredibly supportive work environment where people can show up, be their best selves, and do their best work.
Our CEO, Tom Nolan, is an experienced executive with a relentless focus on our customers, our employee experience, and on business operational excellence. Tom is the ultimate leader when it comes to employee recognition. Frequently picking up the phone or sending an email to all levels of the organization to experience a sincere appreciation for hard work, creativity, and living our values. This year Tom gifted every employee with a copy of David Novak’s new book, “Take Charge of You”, which is a wonderful example of his dedication to career development for every employee at Kendra Scott.
At Kendra Scott, we offer a robust benefits package aligned to our pillars of Family, Fashion and Philanthropy, which includes 100% paid parental leave for up to 12 weeks, fertility benefits, adoption benefits, a competitive 401 K match, mental wellness services, product discounts, as well unique perks like our in-house nail salon, fitness center, smoothie bar, Family Fund for tax-free monetary grants for KS employees facing financial hardship, and paid philanthropy days for community volunteering. We provide Lunch and Learns that cover a variety of personal and professional development topics. Examples are everything from flower arranging and cookie decorating to CPR, self-defense and Excel classes.
Kendra made a sizeable grant to the Kendra Scott Family Fund for employees to receive financial assistance from if they were faced with financial hardship due to lack of childcare options. We also offered Care.com as a benefit to all employees. The elevation of our virtual collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams have allowed for care and connection for all employees regardless if they are working in office, in store, in DC or are fully remote. We took advantage of new virtual options that could be inclusive to all employees like virtual yoga and wellness classes. From our founding Kendra has always maintained that she never wants a parent to “miss a soccer game or dance recital.” We have always leaned into flexibility and continue to do so.
