Lionbridge

Why Lionbridge IS A MOST LOVED WORKPLACE®

Systemic Collaboration

EMPLOYEES COLLABORATE THROUGHOUT OUR COMPANY BY …

Because we have a follow the sun model and project teams that work globally, collaboration is a key to our success. Collaboration is the very heart of how we value the great diversity of thought, approach, background, and viewpoint. Our diversity makes us better problem solvers together. We genuinely like each other and extend this same collaboration even to areas like mental and physical wellbeing. We encourage employees to really think about their work-life balance. We have launched an app to take care of physical and mental wellbeing that encourages collaboration. And the senior leaders of the company frequently talk about taking time off, about checking in with people, about making sure employees take time for themselves to think and work on projects. On Wednesdays, employees are encouraged to participate in “meeting free mornings” to give them time back to work on important tasks.

Positive Vision of the Future

EMPLOYEES AT OUR COMPANY HAVE A POSITIVE VISION FOR THE FUTURE BECAUSE …

We convene representatives from around the globe to talk about things like recognition and rewards, sense of belonging, and career development. No matter where you are in the world, those are the key drivers for employees at Lionbridge to feel really engaged, and really satisfied, with the work that they are doing both now and in the future. Our positive vision for the future also comes from the work we do: helping our clients communicate with their customers no matter the language, location, or medium. Lionbridge builds bridges.

Company Respect

WE SHOW RESPECT AND ENSURE THAT ALL VOICES ARE HEARD AND IDEAS ARE VALUED THROUGHOUT THE COMPANY BY …

Fostering the idea of being selfless and working as one team. One of our core competencies that we value most is collaboration. This means putting the collective good ahead of our own. This helps drive a culture of respect. We also make a point of surveying employees at least twice a year on engagement, sense of belonging, and barriers to execution. We openly share our results and the actions and tactics we plan to put into place because of the survey responses. We collect about 5000 comments each time we survey, and we read every one of them!

Company Support / Killer Outcomes

WE SUPPORT OUR EMPLOYEES IN ACHIEVING THEIR PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL GOALS BY …

Providing employees with access to our internal job board and encouraging career growth conversations with their managers. We also have a companywide LMS (Learning Management System). This is a system that is home-grown, and the curriculum is built around career paths and individual development needs.

Alignment of Values

OUR COMPANY’S VALUES ARE ALIGNED WITH OUR EMPLOYEES BECAUSE …

Lionbridge executes a quarterly pulse survey. We publish our engagement surveys and allow people to see what the results of the survey are, and then what actions we are going to take based on the results.

Company Practices / Love

PROGRAMS AND PRACTICES WE GIVE TO OUR EMPLOYEES THAT CREATE A LOVED WORKPLACE ARE …

Employees are proud to be part of the pride because we represent the absolute best of diversity. We encourage all Lions to pursue opportunities that have an impact on meaningful projects for customers. We also recognize the value of each Lion: we provide employees with their birthday off—what better way to recognize each other? We have launched an app to care for physical and mental wellbeing. We openly discuss how we could be an even better place to work.

CEO Strengths

OUR CEO SERVES AS A MODEL OF OUR COMPANY VALUES BY …

Implementing these values himself. Our CEO, John Fennelly, is the first to raise his hand and say, “I am responsible for this set of circumstances, and here is what we are going to do about it.” He encourages us to work as one team and is very oriented toward giving credit where credit is due. He role models our values of intellectual curiosity, accountability, and simplification. He is the first to advocate for change for the benefit of our employees.

Benefits

EXAMPLES OF UNIQUE BENEFITS, BONUS, OR COMPENSATION WE PROVIDE ARE …

Everyone in the company gets their birthday off. We also provide a Volunteer Day because we believe in giving back to the communities in which we work. People have a wide variety of interests in terms of how they want to spend their volunteer day, and we allow people to take all eight hours and give back to a non-profit that is meaningful to them. We have also realized that since we are virtual first, we need to be sure our knowledge workers have time to think, so we have encouraged all Lions to have “Meeting Free Wednesday Morning”—this extends around the globe and, yes, even the CEO blocks his calendar on Wednesday mornings.

Our response to COVID-19

We foster virtual-first work environments. This includes providing virtual learning and career development opportunities and ways to build community with colleagues around the world. Following the onset of the pandemic, we launched an app to help our team members foster work-life balance, adjust to change, and care for their physical and mental wellbeing while giving them the chance to connect through common interests.
