Sysdig was a remote-friendly company before Covid. Strong communication has been prioritized since Sysdig’s founding in 2013, along with transparency, which starts at the top. Sysdig’s monthly all-hands meetings are no holds barred opportunities for employees to ask questions and for every employee to align. Sysdig has an open door policy and skip-level meetings are common practice. Sysdig hosts a yearly internal hackathon, with more than 70% company-wide participation where employees around the org work together. When it comes to the day-to-day, Sysdig heavily relies on Slack and Zoom, but email is also important. In-person meetings are slowly returning to the norm, with teams starting to travel again; however, Sysdig offers most positions remote, should someone choose that. The exec team always meets quarterly for planning. This sets the example for the company to do the same, working cross-functionally.

We support employee development with training and covering costs for courses. We have also brought in instructors for in-house training, such as management 101 essentials. Additionally, we are working on a full career development framework so employees clearly understand their current level and what they’d need to achieve in order to move to the next level. Every manager has at least two monthly 1:1 meetings with reports, in which time mentorship is strongly encouraged. We also go through a goal-setting program each year, which includes both professional, personal, and position goals.
