With thousands of employees spread at dozens of sites on over 300 programs, collaboration can be challenging, but our employees can do so through central platforms such as SharePoint and email, regular check-ins, and our project management platforms which can vary based on specific customer needs. Most importantly, though, Valiant fosters a culture of collaboration by encouraging open communication, celebrating team successes through platforms such as Valiant Applause, and providing opportunities for employees to engage regularly, through video-conferencing on TEAMS, with those inside and outside their project or division.
Our employees have a positive vision for the future not only because they can see Valiant’s investments in our people and in the future growth and that we ensure we communicate regularly and transparently to our people, as well as provide opportunities for professional growth, and celebrate successes and milestones but they believe in our mission. In our latest employee engagement survey 93% surveyed stated they are very proud of the work they do and 90% felt their contributions are important to the success of their team. Valiant employees are proud of their work supporting of our soldiers throughout the world and know they are making a real difference in ensuring a safer world for all of us.
82% of our employees surveyed in the engagement survey stated the people of all cultures and backgrounds are respected and valued at Valiant and 80% said all Valiant employees have access to equal employment opportunities regardless of their different cultural backgrounds. Our strong Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program has helped solidify those positive feelings about Valiant’s workplace. Valiant has invested in our DE&I program with the purchase of a new DE&I technology solution called Diversity Sidekick. This platform has improved our diversity recruiting pipeline by providing Valiant 20 diverse candidate for 10 positions a month, it provides DE&I training, a bias scanner that we use for all communications, and it also has survey options so our employees can tell us real-time how we are doing from a DE&I perspective.
In addition, Valiant has instituted a constant and continuous feedback loop so our employees can provide us honest assessments on how we are doing. This feedback loop consists of new hire surveys, pulse surveys, stay-interviews, skip-level interviews, and exit interviews. We also have a link for employee suggestions and questions on our intranet site. This feedback allows us to quickly pivot to areas that may need more attention and continue to invest more in programs that are well received. 79% of our employees stated they are comfortable providing feedback to their colleagues and supervisors so our tactics are working.

Excellence: Our people are committed to delivering the best solutions to every challenge, constantly raising the bar to execute with excellence. Our engagement survey noted that 76% stated they know Valiant’s core values and identifies well with them. That is a true indicator that our values are aligned with our employees.
Building Exceptional Valiant is a campaign comprised of four pillars: DE&I, Talent & Development/Rewards & Recognition, Benefits & Wellness and Enhancing the Employee Experience or E3.
Valiant understands the importance of our employees’ physical and mental health and have invested in providing services that are most important to our workforce to include additional time off for both parents after the birth/adoption for bonding leave and we also now offer benefits to help offset the cost of infertility services. We also just launched our online benefits platform which offers challenges and trainings and educates our workforce on the importance of total body wellness. We were able to enhance our benefits package, purchase an online-wellness platform all while keeping our benefits renewals flat.
And lastly we are focused on providing a work environment where we live by our values every day and according to our employee engagement survey, 84% stated Valiant is a great place to work but we are always looking for ways to improve. And we start by offering hybrid work schedules so employees can choose how, where and when to work. We also instituted collaboration days to maximize in-person/in-office collaboration. We also just instituted Focused Fridays, allowing our employees one day for head-down concentration so they end the week feeling accomplished and less stressed, this has been widely appreciated.
We have also created the Valiant Foundation which allows us to raise money throughout the year and give back to our communities for which we live. We are also in progress of creating Valiant Cares, which is a program that allows our exempt employees to use flex time to volunteer at their favorite charities or even their children’s schools.
Leading by Example: Dan consistently demonstrates integrity, strives for excellence in his work, and fosters a culture of innovation. Dan communicates clearly and communicates our values clearly and often, and provides examples of how they are being put into practice. Dan also recognizes and rewards excellence. When employees demonstrate excellence in their work, Dan is quick to recognize and reward their efforts through public recognition on Valiant Applause or Excellence Awards as well as spot bonuses.
We provide very competitive wages and have defined bonus plans, to include a sales incentive plan, on-the-spot bonus and a discretionary bonus plan. Understanding the importance of competitive wages and benefits is key for recruiting but for long term retention, we provide total compensation statements, which are critical for educating our workforce on Valiant's total investment in them as an employee. These statements detail a breakdown of the total cost of their compensation to include their base pay, bonus, overtime, as well as all the employer paid costs, which employees tend to forget, to include the cost of paid time off, sick leave, 401k match and employer paid portion of their benefits cost. These statements help employees understand their total rewards associated with working for Valiant and they appreciate these rewards provided for their commitment, loyalty, hard work and dedication.
According to our employee engagement survey 90% of our employees stated they were able to maintain being productive during COVID. Many of our programs are considered mission-critical, which means hybrid work is challenging or even impossible, but we’ve worked hard to be flexible with our people and ensure we have the resources in place so they can take care of themselves. For our office personnel, we’ve instituted a hybrid work policy, with in-office collaboration days to maximize that face-face interaction which is so important for relationship building and finally, we’ve also instituted meeting-free Focus Fridays to enable our employees to focus on heads-down work, complete pending assignments, catch up on emails, or just take a breather.
