Our small size enables us to collaborate with one another very organically. We excel at sharing our expertise and resources with one another. We work in a brand-new office that was custom designed and built with our daily comfort in mind. Team meetings happen frequently in our various meeting rooms and gathering spots in the building, and we have the best in communication technology for work that is done remotely away from our corporate headquarters.
We are a national company rooted from a small family-owned atmosphere. Our past performance, along with our steady growth, strong values, and a vision geared toward future development, ensure us that we are on the path for continued success. Our company journey is displayed as a timeline along our interior walls as a reminder so that everyone knows how we started and all of the highlighted goals we have achieved throughout the 41 years we have been in business. There is a lot of pride felt here amongst us.
Employees are invited quarterly to small group lunches with one of ten company executives. All employees and executives participate. The purpose is to have candid discussions about the company, our goals, and who we each are personally. We believe in getting to know one another to foster true caring beyond our company mission. As adults we spend more awake hours with our coworkers than we do with our families. We view ourselves as a second family to one another. Upcoming policy changes are now discussed in advance openly. Employees are able to ask questions and share their honest opinions for consideration before putting them into place.
We develop our employees and hire from within. 40% of our employees have been with the company for 10 years or more. Our longest time employees mentor existing staff and take their succession planning very seriously. Alot of cross training and professional development coaching happens between our staff members to share knowledge and foster teamwork.
We have an all for one and one for all approach. Yearly bonuses are not based on the individual, but on the company’s overall financial growth. We are all working hard toward one common goal and about helping each other be our best. When the company does well, our employees are rewarded. It is truly by teamwork that we are able to achieve great things together. Everyone is encouraged to work, behave, and feel like an owner at Widewaters.
We have an employee created and driven Engagement Committee. The “E3 Team” (Enhancing Employee Experience) organizes several events each month that all employees are invited to partake in. Some to name a few are: Employee Chili Cook Off, Christmas Cookie Exchange party, Meatball March Madness, Employee Appreciation Day gifts, Food truck visits, corporate challenge walk/run, company kickball team, lunch hour games, team volunteering at local charities, and an employee “Shout Out” board. We work well together both in and outside of the office in our community.
Joe Scuderi leads by example. He is the first one to arrive each day and the last one to leave. He has an open-door policy with all of our employees and encourages communication. He is honest and truly cares about every employee like family. He role models the four cultural expectations of all Widewaters employees: Integrity. We do the right thing. Excellence. We always bring our best. Teamwork. We work together. Humility. We respect everyone.
Annually Widewaters provides: 8 paid holidays in addition to frontloaded PTO hours (that are available for immediate use to promote work-life balance), years of service awards, employee recognition awards, employee family trick or treating in the office, employee family breakfast with Santa, free flu shot and healthy checkup onsite clinics, performance evaluation feedback with discretionary increases, and a company performance incentive bonus. Widewaters offers a safe harbor 401K where you are vested immediately (company matches a full 4% to an employee’s 5% deferral), monthly employee celebration lunches, quarterly executive open forum lunches, local entertainment discounts and sporting events, employee discounts at our hotels, and community volunteer service opportunities.
